The Art of Seeing the Extra Ordinary
Being fortunate enough to live this type of lifestyle doesn’t come without its challenges—a fact that many people can undoubtedly attest to. However, I also know that this way of life has provided me with countless opportunities and life lessons—lessons I might not have fully appreciated at another time.
This past year, I made the choice to step outside the traditional classroom. I spent five years studying to become a teacher and have worked my entire adult life in education. While I still am, and will always be, a teacher, this year has allowed me to see life through a new lens.
I’ve discovered my passion and creative outlet through this camera—something that’s no secret—but what I’ve come to realize is that it has also helped me see beauty in everyday circumstances. What once felt like a task to complete after work or a mundane chore has now become an opportunity to notice the wonders around me.
When the sun sets and the fog rolls in, it’s easy to complain—the winter hours are too short, it’s too cold, and so on. I almost feel guilty for having taken so many things for granted, not pausing long enough to appreciate the world around me.
My challenge to all of you (and to myself) in 2025 is to actively seek out the beauty in every day. What used to be “just feeding cows” turned into some of my most cherished photographs. Find the light! I promise that if you look for it, it’s there.
With love,
AC
